Dale James Photography

Originally from California, Dale & his wife Jeanne spent 10 years in Stockton where he pursued his education with an undergraduate degree in Pharmacy and a Ph.D. in Physiology and Pharmacology. During this time he began actively experimenting with photography including photo microscopy utilizing standard, phase and electron microscopes. Following their move to Massachusetts he continued an off and on interest in photography, primarily black and white, while serving as a faculty member and Vice President for Student Affairs at The Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences. Since their return “west” to Prescott in 1998 he has intensified his interest, concentrating on a wide range of subjects from landscapes to macro. During 2002 he converted entirely from film to digital, currently using a Nikon D2x and printing with an Epson 2200 printer. Images are adjusted using Photoshop, in most cases limited to color correction, dodging & burning and sharpening - techniques similar to those preformed in the dark room, only more efficiently. He recently participated in workshops with Lonnie Brock's The Nature Workshops.  The first was in northern Arizona under the direction of Roger Devore and, most recently in Yosemite with Richard Buchbinder.  Dale and Jeanne live in Prescott, Arizona.  Their daughter, Kim, lives with her husband and two children in Washington, DC.
